Where to Start in Zenler: A Beginner’s First Steps

Opening Zenler for the first time can feel a little overwhelming.

You log in and suddenly see courses, funnels, landing pages, emails, automations, memberships, communities, payments, and plenty of settings you are not sure you need yet.

The good news is that where to start in Zenler is actually much simpler than it looks.

You do not need to build your entire online business on day one. You do not need to create every page, automation, funnel, and course before you can start using the platform.

You need to build the right pieces in the right order.

In this beginner’s guide, I will walk you through the first steps I recommend taking when setting up Zenler, what you should focus on first, what you can leave until later, and how to avoid the most common mistake beginners make: trying to set up everything at once.

Where to Start in Zenler A Beginner’s First Steps

What Is Zenler?

Before getting into the setup, it helps to understand what Zenler actually does.

Zenler is an all-in-one platform designed for course creators, coaches, educators, and other online businesses. It brings together tools for courses, landing pages, sales funnels, email marketing, automation, memberships, communities, live sessions, and payments.

That is one of its biggest advantages.

Instead of using one platform for your website, another for your course, another for email marketing, another for your checkout, and another for your automations, you can connect many of those functions inside one system.

But there is a downside to having so many features available.

You can easily spend your first few weeks setting up things you do not actually need yet.

That is why I recommend starting with the foundation and adding complexity only when your business actually requires it.

Where to Start in Zenler

If you are completely new to Zenler, think about your setup as a simple journey:

Your business → Your offer → Your audience → Your landing page → Your emails → Your automation → Your sale or enrolment

That is the basic structure.

You do not need to begin with a complicated funnel.

You do not need five different automations.

And you certainly do not need to spend hours designing every page before you know what you are trying to achieve.

Start with one clear outcome.

For example:

“I want people to sign up for my free guide and receive it automatically.”

Or:

“I want people to purchase my online course and receive automatic access.”

Once you know that outcome, you can work backwards and build only the pieces required to make it happen.

Step 1: Get Clear on What You Are Building

Before touching the technical settings in Zenler, answer a few basic questions.

What are you selling?

It could be an online course, membership, coaching programme, workshop, digital product, or another offer.

Who is it for?

Be specific. “Everyone” is not a useful audience when you are creating your messaging or funnel.

What problem does it solve?

Your offer should have a clear purpose. Someone should be able to understand why they need it.

What action do you want someone to take?

Do you want them to join your email list? Book a call? Register for a webinar? Purchase a course? Join a membership?

This matters because your Zenler setup should support that one primary journey.

If you skip this step, it is very easy to build a technically impressive system that does not actually guide people anywhere.

Step 2: Set Up Your Basic Site

Once you know what you are building, move into the basic setup of your Zenler account.

This is where you establish the foundation of your online presence.

Depending on your business, that might include:

  • Your brand name

  • Logo

  • Colours

  • Fonts

  • Homepage

  • About page

  • Contact information

  • Navigation

  • Basic legal pages

  • Domain settings

You do not need to make the website perfect before moving forward.

In fact, perfection can become one of the biggest delays when setting up an online business.

Your first goal is simply to make sure that someone who lands on your site can understand:

Who you are, what you offer, and what they should do next.

Zenler currently includes website and landing-page functionality alongside its other business tools, so you can build these pieces within the same platform.

Keep the first version simple.

You can improve the design as your business grows.

Step 3: Create Your First Course or Offer

If your main reason for using Zenler is selling an online course, this is where your actual product comes into the picture.

Inside Zenler’s Courses area, you can create courses and organise your curriculum, pricing, content, and student experience. Zenler also supports features such as drip content, multiple pricing options, video and other lesson formats, and course automations.

Start with the basics.

Create your course and add:

Your course name

Make it clear rather than clever.

Your potential student should understand what they are looking at immediately.

Your course description

Explain who the course is for, what they will learn, and what outcome the course is designed to help them achieve.

Your curriculum

Break the course into logical sections and lessons.

You do not need 50 lessons simply because the platform allows you to create them.

A shorter course that helps someone achieve a specific result can be much easier to complete than a huge course that overwhelms them.

Your pricing

Decide how people will purchase access to your course.

Zenler supports course pricing and checkout functionality, allowing the purchase and delivery process to connect together.

The goal at this stage is not to build the most sophisticated course possible.

It is to create a clear, usable first version.

Step 4: Set Up Your Email List

This is a step I would not leave until the very end.

Your email list gives you a direct way to communicate with people who have shown interest in your business.

Zenler includes email marketing and automation as part of its platform, including broadcasts, automated sequences, tagging and segmentation.

If you are starting from scratch, keep your email structure simple.

You might begin with:

  • New subscribers

  • Leads from your freebie

  • Course students

  • Customers

  • Other specific groups you genuinely need

Do not create twenty different groups and tags just because the functionality exists.

Your organisation should reflect your actual business.

As your audience grows, you can introduce more advanced segmentation and automation.

Step 6: Set Up Your First Automation

This is where Zenler starts becoming much more useful.

Instead of manually sending emails every time someone joins your list or purchases your course, you can create automations that respond to specific actions.

For example:

Someone opts into your freebie → they receive the freebie email.

Someone purchases your course → they receive their welcome email.

Someone enrolls in your course → they receive onboarding emails.

Someone completes a lesson → a follow-up action can be triggered.

Zenler’s current automation functionality supports behaviour-based actions, including emails and tagging, and course automations can be triggered by events such as enrolment and course or lesson completion.

For your first automation, do not build a complicated 20-email sequence.

Start with one useful workflow.

For example:

Simple Lead Magnet Automation

Email 1: Deliver the freebie immediately.

Email 2: Send a useful tip related to the freebie.

Email 3: Introduce your approach or expertise.

Email 4: Explain the next step or offer.

That is already enough to create a functioning nurture system.

Once you understand how that works, you can build more advanced automations.

Step 5: Create Your First Landing Page

Now you need somewhere for people to take the action you want them to take.

This might be a landing page for:

  • A free guide

  • Webinar registration

  • Course registration

  • Coaching application

  • Workshop

  • Digital product

  • Email list

Zenler provides landing pages and opt-in forms as part of its funnel tools.

The important thing is not to make the page complicated.

A beginner-friendly landing page can have:

A clear headline

Tell visitors exactly what they are getting.

A short explanation

Explain why it is useful.

A few benefits

Show what they will learn, receive, or achieve.

A clear call to action

Tell them exactly what to do.

The form or button

Make the next step obvious.

That is enough to start.

You can test and improve your page later.

Step 7: Connect Your Funnel

Once your basic pieces are ready, you can connect them into a simple journey.

For example:

Social media post

Landing page

Opt-in

Welcome email

Nurture sequence

Offer

Checkout

Course access

Student onboarding

That is a funnel.

And notice something important:

You do not need ten different funnels to start.

One clear funnel that works is much more valuable than five unfinished funnels.

Zenler’s current funnel tools include lead-generation funnels, landing pages, opt-in forms, checkout flows, and automation capabilities.

Build one journey first.

Then improve it.

Step 8: Test Everything Before You Launch

This is the step beginners often skip.

Please do not assume that because you built it, it works.

Test the entire customer journey yourself.

Go through your landing page.

Submit the form.

Check whether the correct email arrives.

Click the links.

Check that the right automation is triggered.

If you are selling a course, test the checkout.

Make sure the purchase gives the correct access.

Check the welcome email.

Check the student dashboard.

Check every link.

You are looking for the experience from your customer’s perspective, not just whether the settings appear correct inside your account.

A funnel can look perfect in the backend and still have a broken link, incorrect email, missing automation, or confusing next step.

Testing before sending real traffic gives you the opportunity to find those problems first.

What You Do Not Need to Set Up Yet

One of the biggest benefits of starting with a simple Zenler setup is knowing what not to build.

You probably do not need all of these on day one:

  • Multiple courses

  • Multiple sales funnels

  • Complex tagging systems

  • Dozens of automations

  • Advanced segmentation

  • Membership tiers

  • Complicated upsells

  • Multiple lead magnets

  • Every possible website page

  • A huge email sequence

Zenler has a lot of functionality because it is designed to support businesses as they grow. That does not mean you need to use every feature immediately.

Think of the platform as a toolbox.

You do not use every tool in the toolbox to hang one picture.

You choose the tools you need for the job.

Where to Go Next With Zenler

Once you have your foundation working, you can start adding more advanced features based on what your business actually needs.

For example, you might eventually add:

  • A webinar funnel

  • A lead magnet funnel

  • More advanced email sequences

  • Course completion automations

  • Memberships

  • Communities

  • Additional courses

  • Upsells

  • Segmentation

  • More detailed customer journeys

The important thing is to add these because they solve a business problem, not simply because Zenler gives you the option.

Your goal is not to become an expert at every Zenler feature.

Your goal is to build a system that makes it easier for your audience to discover you, join your list, buy from you, and receive what they purchased.

Conclusion: Start Simple, Then Build

If you are wondering where to start in Zenler, the answer is not “start with everything.”

Start with one clear offer.

Then build the simplest path that takes someone from discovering you to taking the action you want them to take.

Set up your basic site.

Create your offer.

Build your email list.

Create one landing page.

Set up one useful automation.

Connect the pieces.

Then test everything.

That is enough to get started.

Zenler is powerful because it can grow with you. Its current platform includes courses, funnels, email marketing, automations, payments, memberships, community and other tools, so you can add more functionality as your business requires it.

But you do not have to build the entire business today.

Build the foundation first. Get it working. Then grow from there.
